And in other news...
A quick aside here, but two things I found amusing in the paper recently whilst reading it back to front on a suicide watch...Article 1: "The Crown Prosecution Service are to seek legal advice on whether they can take action against..." Who needs to know the rest of the story. That line said it all for me. :)
Article 2: "STOPPA COPPA SOCIETY" This article spoke about a small group in some part of the UK - I forget which - which had started up a society of people, and their only action was to approach a police officer and say "Officer, I just wanted to stop you to say that we really appreciate what you do. If it weren't for people like yourself, we would be in chaos. Please continue to follow your higher calling." I haven't got the paper with me at the moment, but I think that is pretty much word for word what it said. They went on to say that one WPC had burst into tears when they had spoken to her, and said how she was going to quit the job but now wouldn't.
Its therefore probably a sad state of affairs that if someone came up to me on the street and said that, I'd think they were severely taking the piss.

Just like to comment on that! I was thinking of doing such but eventually opted for mouthing "Fuck off you wanker" to my local constabulary. They didn't like it..first instance PC W.Anke Evans giving it "I can get you for Disorderly conduct" Yes like 20 ys in Saughton for a crime I did not commit is REALLY going to endear me to you sub human excreta so I merely shrugged my (5O inch shoulders). 2nd time Plod just says Er um..we can do you for that. Dreamworld Britain (2)
Last weekend, London was host to something called a ‘Global Peace and Unity’ Conference presented by the new Islam Channel and sponsored by Emirates Airlines, Western Union and the Metropolitan Police. It was duly reported as a worthy event attracting some 20,000 Muslims from all around Britain. The Times reported that Ken Livingstone, Michael Mansfield, QC, and the former Pakistan cricketers Saeed Anwar and Imran Khan were among the speakers promoting ‘global peace and unity’. One participant, asked if she thought that non-Muslims would feel threatened by such a gathering, replied: ‘No, non-Muslims are more aware that we are here, that we live in this society and that we engage and integrate in a peaceful way.’
Carol Gould also attended this event. This, in her words, is how the cause of ‘global peace and unity’ gets British Muslims to ‘engage and integrate in a peaceful way’:
Go safe.
I'm all for the "engagement and integration" aspect, but, it is the fear of causing real or perceived offence that stifles real debate that worries me. There are people that I meet almost daily that feel that they are being more and more marginalised. I do not refer to the black and asian members of our community but those others such as travellers and asylum seekers that are perceived to being allowed to ride roughshod over all the accepted social norms. Norms I might add that are adhered to by the very people who abide by the law and pay their taxes who are then abused, by both the administrators of our democracy and the particular minority group in question.
I make no apology for these statements I feel that real or perceived, that this is felt by a lot of people, some who may not be as polite and tolerant as I.
It could be argued that the tolerance that we Britishers are so famous for will eventually be our downfall, and that would be very sad, not least for those who genuinely need asylum.
What do you think?
With regard to Mr Anon (brave lad that he is), are your 50" shoulders including that George puffa you so readily tell everyone is prada. Cracking comments. I have to say I was going to quit until I read the above comments and realised that people really do appreciate our efforts.
All the best.
I went out on foot patrol in a remote urban area a while ago, and a passing pensioner said "We haven't seen police round here since the queen's coronation. Has someone passed away?"... before I told her we were just on routine patrol to which she thanked us...
But he DOES have 50 inch shoulders! Altogether now "Ooooooohh" I presume it goes with the 60 inch waist. No bother, bigger targets are easier to hit with the barbs. Mind you, it would clearly have to be tazer barbs, intellectual barbs would leave him cold.
Leave the comments be, funny as a really funny thing. Tomorrow is joined up writing class.
